Natural climate control

A new, planet-friendly insulator delivering exceptional performance and comfort.

Halo Wool Knit is a new textile innovation that delivers the unparalleled performance of wool in the form of a free-hanging fabric insulation.

It brings manufacturers and designers a new level of versatility in garment construction. Created from sustainably produced New Zealand wool and recycled yarn, Halo Wool Knit delivers warmth and comfort with a minimal environmental footprint.

Keeps heat in, lets moisture out

Wool is an exceptional insulator that has evolved over millions of years to provide natural climate control.

Wool is thermally dynamic, meaning wearers stay warm in cold weather yet don’t overheat when the temperature rises.

Wool fibres have the unique ability to absorb vapour yet repel liquid. This means that when a person wearing wool perspires, vapour from the body is absorbed and they remain dry and comfortable.

At the same time liquid water is repelled by wool fibres’ natural waxy coating. This has the effect of inhibiting bacteria growth and preventing the development of unwanted odours.

Unlike other natural insulators, wool provides warmth even when wet. Furthermore, when wool dries there is no damage done to its loft, appearance or thermal performance.

Unlocking design possibilities

To create Halo Wool Knit, strong wool fibers are knitted through a mesh of polyester yarns. The result is a stable low profile insulation layer that provides warmth without bulk.

The knit pile provides an active body climate which controls temperature and humidity. The fabric is available in a range of weights to work with the various climates.

A better choice for the planet

Halo Wool Knit has been developed out of a desire to create high performance products with a lower ecological footprint.

Halo Wool Knit is primarily composed of New Zealand grown crossbred wool – a naturally produced fibre that is 100% biodegradable. Our wool is origin verified by Oritain and certified by OEKO-Tex to contain no harmful chemicals.

We source our wool from New Zealand farms where sheep are grass-fed, free to roam and raised in family flocks. Every farmer we work with is committed to promoting healthy ecosystems and following the international five freedoms for animal welfare.

  • Freedom from hunger and thirst
  • Freedom from discomfort
  • Freedom from pain, injury or disease
  • Freedom to express normal behaviour
  • Freedom from fear and distress

The ground-breaking construction of Halo Wool Knit embodies the natural performance of wool, in a product that is environmentally friendly, beautifully light and comfortable to wear.
